Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
वसवो मरुतो रुद्रा ये च साध्या मरीचिपा: । वालखिल्यादय: सिद्धा: श्रेष्ठत्वं प्राणिनां गता:,श्रेष्ठ विद्याधरगण दिव्य मन्दार-कुसुमोंकी मालाओंसे आपकी पूजा करके सफलमनोरथ हो तुरंत आपके समीप पहुँच जाते हैं। गुह्यक, सातः प्रकारके पितृगण तथा दिव्य मानव (सनकादि) आपकी ही पूजा करके श्रेष्ठ पदको प्राप्त करते हैं। वसुगण, मरुदगण, रुद्र, साध्य तथा आपकी किरणोंका पान करनेवाले वालखिल्य आदि सिद्ध महर्षि आपकी ही आराधनासे सब प्राणियोंमें श्रेष्ठ हुए हैं
vasavo maruto rudrā ye ca sādhyā marīcipāḥ | vālakhilyādayaḥ siddhāḥ śreṣṭhatvaṃ prāṇināṃ gatāḥ ||
ユディシュティラは言った。「ヴァス（Vasu）、マルト（Marut）、ルドラ（Rudra）、サーディヤ（Sādhya）、そして光線を糧として生きるヴァーラキリヤ（Vālakhilya）らに始まる成就の聖仙たちは、衆生の中で卓越の位を得た。礼拝と帰依によってこそ、かくも高貴な神々の階級や成就した見者でさえ最高位へと昇る。ゆえに、神聖への敬虔は、卓越へ至る倫理の道となるのだ。」
