Educational Q&A

The verse frames the Sun as a moral and cosmic principle: the illuminator (world’s eye), the indwelling self of beings, the generative source of life, and the exemplar of proper conduct for those who act according to duty—linking ethical order (ācāra/dharma) with cosmic order.

Yudhiṣṭhira addresses the Sun-god in a reverential hymn, acknowledging the Sun’s universal role in sustaining life and guiding righteous action, as part of a devotional or supplicatory context within the Vana Parva.
