Sūrya-stava: Dhaumya’s Counsel and the Aṣṭaśata-nāma of Sūrya
इमं स्तवं देववरस्य यो नर: प्रकीर्तयेच्छुचिसुमना: समाहित: । विमुच्यते शोकदवाग्निसागरा- ल्लभेत कामान् मनसा यथेप्सितान्,जो मानव स्नान आदि करके पवित्र, शुद्धचित्त एवं एकाग्र हो देवेश्वर 'भगवान्' सूर्यके इस नामात्मक स्तोत्रका कीर्तन करता है वह शोकरूपी दावानलसे युक्त दुस्तर संसारसागरसे मुक्त हो मनचाही वस्तुओंको प्राप्त कर लेता है
imaṃ stavaṃ devavarasya yo naraḥ prakīrtayec chucisumanāḥ samāhitaḥ | vimucyate śokadāvāgnisāgarāl labheta kāmān manasā yathepsitān ||
ドゥハウミヤは言った。沐浴などの作法によって身を清め、心を浄めて定念を保ち、神々の中の至上主たる太陽にこの名号讃歌を唱える者は、悲嘆という野火に焼かれた、渡り難き世の海（輪廻）から解き放たれ、胸に求める望みの成就を得る。この偈は、信と規律ある清浄を、憂いへの倫理的な処方として、また苦難の中で内なる主体性を取り戻す道として説いている。
