sūryodaye yaḥ susamāhitaḥ paṭhet sa putradārān dhana-ratna-saṃcayān | labheta jātismaratāṃ naraḥ sadā dhṛtiṃ ca medhāṃ ca sa vindate pumān ||
The verse teaches that disciplined recitation performed at an auspicious time (sunrise) with concentrated attention cultivates both external well-being (family and wealth) and internal virtues (steadfastness and intelligence), even extending to extraordinary spiritual fruit such as remembrance of former births.
Dhāumya is describing the promised results of reciting certain sacred names at sunrise with focused mind—presenting it as a practical observance whose fruits include prosperity and heightened mental and spiritual capacities.
