तयो: समभवद् युद्ध सुमहज्जयगृद्धिनो: । दिव्यास्त्रविदुषोस्तीव्रमन्योन्यस्पर्धिनोस्तदा,वे दोनों ही विजयकी अभिलाषा रखनेवाले, दिव्यास्त्रोंके ज्ञाता तथा परस्पर बड़ी स्पर्धा रखनेवाले थे। उन दोनोंमें उस समय बड़ा भारी युद्ध हुआ
tayoḥ samabhavad yuddhaṃ sumahaj jayagṛddhinoḥ | divyāstraviduṣos tīvram anyonyaspardhinoḥ tadā ||
マールカンデーヤは言った。「その二人の間には――勝利への渇望に燃え、神授の武器（ディヴィヤ・アストラ）の奥義に通じ、互いに激しく競い合う者同士として――そのとき、きわめて大いなる苛烈な戦いが起こった。」
