तस्माद् बलवता चैव दुर्बलेन च नित्यदा । क्षन्तव्यं पुरुषेणाहुरापत्स्वपि विजानता,इसलिये बलवान् या निर्बल सभी विज्ञ मनुष्योंको सदा आपत्तिकालमें भी क्षमाभावका ही आश्रय लेना चाहिये
tasmād balavatā caiva durbalena ca nityadā | kṣantavyaṃ puruṣeṇāhur āpatsu api vijānatā ||
ゆえに、強き者も弱き者も、分別ある人は常に忍耐を修めるべきである。たとえ災厄の時であっても、賢者は赦しの道を選べと説く。
युधिछिर उवाच
The verse teaches kṣamā—patient forbearance and forgiveness—as a universal duty: strength should not become cruelty, and weakness should not become resentment. Even during crises, the wise uphold forgiveness as the ethically superior response.
Yudhiṣṭhira is articulating a dharmic principle in the Vana Parva context, emphasizing how one should behave under pressure and misfortune: by choosing restraint and forgiveness rather than retaliation.
