ददृशे स्वसिता स्निग्धा काली व्यालीव मूर्थनि । अच्छी तरह रोती हुई भामिनी सीताके मस्तकपर बँधी हुई स्निग्ध, असित एवं विशाल वेणी काली नागिनके समान दिखायी देती थी
dadṛśe svasitā snigdhā kālī vyālīva mūrdhani |
マールカンデーヤは語った。「彼女の頭には、黒く艶やかで太い編み髪が見え、それはまるで黒い雌蛇のようであった。」この比喩は、シーターの悲嘆と脆さを際立たせると同時に、内なる強さと貞節をも示す。嘆きの中にあっても尊厳は損なわれず、物語は苦難の下で揺るがぬ徳への敬意を促すのである。
