Sāvitrī’s Dialogue with Yama and the Restoration of Satyavān
abhigacchāva sugrīvaṁ śailasthaṁ haripuṅgavam | mayi śiṣye ca bhṛtye ca sahāye ca samāśvasa ||
The verse teaches steadiness and reassurance in adversity: one should seek the right alliance and proceed with confidence when supported by a loyal, duty-bound companion who offers service, guidance, and practical help.
Mārkaṇḍeya urges moving toward Sugrīva, the monkey leader living on a mountain peak (Ṛṣyamūka), and consoles the listener by pledging himself as disciple, servant, and ally—encouraging courage and composure during the next step of the journey.
