Transliteration

Mālinī janayāmāsa putram ekaṁ Vibhīṣaṇam | Rākāyāṁ mithunaṁ jajñe Kharaḥ Śūrpaṇakhā tathā ||

Translation

マールカンデーヤは語った。マーリニーはただ一人の子、ヴィビーシャナを産んだ。ラーカーからは双子が生まれ、子はカラ、娘はシュールパナカーと名づけられた。かくして系譜が語られるのは、のちの善悪の選択が、同じ家の根から生じうることを示すためである。
