Mārkaṇḍeya’s Consolation to the King: Exempla of Rāma and the Efficacy of Allies (मार्कण्डेयाश्वासनम्)

Even powerful figures should practice self-control and humility: when conflict arises, one should strive to restore harmony—especially by honoring elders and seeking their goodwill rather than escalating anger.
Mārkaṇḍeya tells Yudhiṣṭhira that Kubera learned Mārkaṇḍeya’s father was angry and therefore repeatedly endeavored, with a calm mind, to please him and obtain his favor.
