क्षणेन व्यद्रवत् सर्व विमुखं चाप्यदृश्यत । शिलाखण्ड, शतष्नी (तोप), प्रास, खड्ग, परिघ और गदाओंके लगातार प्रहार हो रहे थे। इन भयंकर महान् अस्त्रोंकी मारसे देवताओंकी सारी सेना क्षणभरमें (पीठ दिखाकर) भाग चली। सारे सैनिक युद्धसे विमुख दिखायी देते थे
kṣaṇena vyadravat sarvaṃ vimukhaṃ cāpyadṛśyata |
マールカンデーヤは言った。「たちまち全軍は崩れ、逃走した。戦いから背を向けるさまが見て取れた。岩塊の破片、雷霆のごとき投射、槍、剣、鉄の棍棒、重い槌の絶え間ない打撃――恐るべき大武器の猛撃の下、天軍は激しく打ち据えられ、ただちに背を見せて走り去り、まるで戦を厭うかのようであった。」
