चित्रसेनगन्धर्वैः कौरवसंनिपातः
Citrasena and the Kaurava engagement
सस्मार तां देवसेनां या सा तेन विमोक्षिता । उस समय इन्द्रने स्कन्दको सेनापति पदपर अभिषिक्त करनेके पश्चात् उस कुमारी देवसेनाका स्मरण किया, जिसका उन्होंने केशीके हाथसे उद्धार किया था
sasmāra tāṁ devasenāṁ yā sā tena vimokṣitā |
マールカンデーヤは言った。「インドラがスカンダを天軍の総帥として灌頂し任じたのち、彼は乙女デーヴァセーナーを思い起こした――かつてケーシーの手から救い出し、解き放ったその娘である。この逸話は、統治者の務めが過去の負い目を重んじ、守った者を忘れぬことにあると示す。救出は一瞬の行いではなく、永く続く責任なのである。」
