Satyabhāmā’s Consolation of Draupadī
bibheda rājan vajreṇa bhuvi tan nipapāta ha | patatā tu tadā keśī tena śṛṅgeṇa tāḍitaḥ ||
The verse underscores the inevitability of consequences in violent encounters: even in the moment of defeat, a falling adversary can still cause harm. It cautions against complacency and highlights the unpredictable momentum of conflict.
Yudhiṣṭhira narrates a combat episode: someone is cleft ‘like by a thunderbolt’ and falls to the ground; as Keśī falls, he strikes (or is involved in striking) with his horn, indicating a final, dangerous impact during the fall.
