धर्मात्माओंमें श्रेष्ठ तात युधिष्ठिर! तुमने जो प्रश्न किया था, उसके अनुसार मैंने ये सब बातें कह सुनायीं ।। पतिव्रताया माहात्म्य॑ ब्राह्मणस्य च सत्तम । मातापित्रोश्व शुश्रूषा धर्मव्याधेन कीर्तिता,साधुश्रेष्ठट पतिव्रताका माहात्म्य और धर्मव्याथके द्वारा ब्राह्मणसे कही हुई माता- पिताकी सेवा आदिकी बातें बता दीं
mārkaṇḍeya uvāca | dharmātmāsu śreṣṭha tāta yudhiṣṭhira! tvaṁ yat praśnaṁ kṛtavān, tad-anusāreṇa mayā etāḥ sarvāḥ kathāḥ kathitāḥ || pativratāyā māhātmyaṁ brāhmaṇasya ca sattama | mātā-pitroś ca śuśrūṣā dharma-vyādhena kīrtitā ||
マールカンデーヤは言った。「ユディシュティラよ、義ある者のうち最も勝れたる者、愛しき子よ。汝が問うたとおり、余はこれらすべてを語り聞かせた。夫への貞節の誓いを守る妻(パティヴラター)の偉大さを説き、また—婆羅門のうち最上の者よ—父母への奉仕を、ダルマに生きる狩人が称えたとおりに述べたのである。」
मार्कण्डेय उवाच
Dharma is clarified through lived duties: the verse highlights two exemplary domains—steadfast marital devotion (pativratā) and devoted service to one’s parents—presented as authoritative ethical instruction.
Markandeya concludes his response to Yudhishthira’s inquiry, stating that he has recounted the relevant teachings, including the praised examples of a devoted wife and the Dharma-vyādha’s instruction on serving mother and father.
