ततो5स्मि पतितो भूमौ न च मामजहात् स्मृति: स्मार्तमस्ति पुराणं मे यथैवाधिगतं तथा,“उनके इतना कहते ही मैं पृथ्वीपर गिर पड़ा। परंतु आज भी वह पुरानी स्मरण-शक्ति मुझे छोड़ नहीं सकी है। यद्यपि यह वृत्तान्त बहुत पुराना हो चुका है तथापि जो कुछ जैसे हुआ था; वह सब मुझे ज्यों-का-त्यों स्मरण है
tato ’smi patito bhūmau na ca mām ajahāt smṛtiḥ | smārtam asti purāṇaṃ me yathaivādhigataṃ tathā ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。「彼がそのように言うや否や、私は地に倒れ伏した。だが、私の記憶の力は私を見捨てなかった。この物語は古きに属するとはいえ、起こったことのすべて—体験したそのままに—今なお私の心にありありと残っている。」
