This verse is a colophon rather than a didactic statement; its function is to mark closure and to locate the chapter within the Mahābhārata’s organized structure, reminding the reader that the narrative is transmitted within a disciplined textual and oral framework.
The chapter concludes. The colophon states that this is the 178th chapter of the Vana Parva, within the Ājagara episode, and that it pertains to a renewed entry into the forest, serving as an editorial/narrative signpost.
