न सम प्रज्ञायते किंचिदावृते व्योम्नि रेणुना । न चापि शेकुस्तत् कर्तुमन्योन्यस्थाभिभाषणम्,धूलसे आकाशके ढक जानेसे कुछ भी सूझ नहीं पड़ता था; इसीलिये वे एक-दूसरेसे बातचीत भी नहीं कर पाते थे। अन्धकारने आँखोंपर पर्दा डाल दिया था; जिससे पाण्डवलोग एक-दूसरेके दर्शनसे भी वज्चित हो गये थे। भारत! पत्थरोंका चूर्ण बिखेरती हुई वायु उन्हें कहीं-से-कहीं खींच लिये जाती थी
na sama prajñāyate kiñcid āvṛte vyomni reṇunā | na cāpi śekuḥ tat kartum anyonya-sthābhibhāṣaṇam |
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。「塵が天を覆い隠したとき、何ひとつ明らかに見分けることはできなかった。ゆえに彼らは、それぞれの立つ場所から互いに言葉を交わすことすらかなわず—闇がまるで目の前に帳を垂らしたかのように、眩惑する嵐のただ中で相互の視界と通じ合いを断ち切ったのである。」
