As a colophon, the verse primarily teaches textual orientation: it frames the Yavakrīta episode as moral instruction embedded within a pilgrimage discourse, implying that sacred travel and storytelling function together to cultivate dharma through remembered examples and their consequences.
The narrator’s section-marker announces that the chapter has ended: within the Vana Parva’s Tīrtha-yātrā Parva, during Lomasha’s account of a pilgrimage, the sub-tale concerning Yavakrīta has reached its conclusion for this chapter.
