Educational Q&A

The verse highlights steadfast dharma: even while living in hardship, one should maintain ritual discipline, honor the gods, and fulfill obligations to ancestors (pitṛs). Such acts express gratitude, continuity of lineage, and moral steadiness.

At a sacred spot during the Pāṇḍavas’ forest life, Yudhiṣṭhira bathes with his brothers and performs tarpana for gods and ancestors. Draupadī, the accompanying Brahmins, and the sage Lomaśa likewise bathe and perform the same rites.
