Kaliṅga Episode
विषीदन्तीं तु तां दृष्टवा कश्यपो भगवानृषि: । प्रसादयाम्बभूवाथ ततो भूमिं विशाम्पते,राजन! पृथ्वी देवीको विषाद करती देख महर्षि भगवान् कश्यपने प्रार्थनाद्वारा उन्हें प्रसन्न किया
viṣīdantīṃ tu tāṃ dṛṣṭvā kaśyapo bhagavān ṛṣiḥ | prasādayām babhūvātha tato bhūmiṃ viśāmpate, rājan |
大地の女神が悲嘆に沈むのを見て、尊き聖仙カश्यパは、和らげる言葉と祈りの嘆願によって彼女を慰め、喜びへと導こうとした。ついで、人々の主よ——王よ——彼はブーミに語りかけ、乱れた心を鎮め、苦しみの原因を正そうとしたのである。
लोमश उवाच
When a being—especially one bearing the world’s burdens—falls into sorrow, the dharmic response is not force but compassionate appeasement: wise speech, humility, and prayerful conciliation aimed at restoring balance and right order.
Lomaśa narrates that the sage Kaśyapa sees the Earth-goddess (Bhūmi/Pṛthvī) in distress and attempts to comfort and please her through supplication; he then proceeds to address her, with the king as the listening addressee.
