Indra’s Distress: Slaying of Triśiras, Birth of Vṛtra, and the Origin of Yawning
समेत्य सह शक्रेण त्वष्टस्तेजोविमोहिता: । आमन्त्रयन्त ते सर्वे मुनिभि: सह भारत
sametya saha śakreṇa tvaṣṭas tejo-vimohitāḥ | āmantrayanta te sarve munibhiḥ saha bhārata ||
シャリヤは言った。「バーラタよ、トヴァシュトリ(Tvaṣṭṛ)の恐るべき力に惑わされた神々は、シャクラ(インドラ)とともに集い、さらに賢仙たちを交えて協議した。『いま、われらはいかにすべきか』と。」
शल्य उवाच
When overwhelmed by another’s power (tejas), even the mighty must pause, seek wise counsel, and act through deliberation rather than panic—an ethical reminder that right action begins with clear judgment and guidance.
The gods, shaken by Tvaṣṭṛ’s potency, gather with Indra and the sages to consult on their next course of action, signaling a moment of strategic and moral deliberation in a divine crisis.
