Indra’s Distress: Slaying of Triśiras, Birth of Vṛtra, and the Origin of Yawning
जद्वषुश्न सुरा: सर्वे शक्रं दृष्टवा विनि:सृतम् । ततः प्रववृते युद्ध वृत्रवासवयो: पुन:,इन्द्रको उसके मुखसे निकला हुआ देख सब देवता बड़े प्रसन्न हुए। तदनन्तर वृत्रासुर तथा इन्द्रमें पुनः युद्ध होने लगा
yad vai śuśna-surāḥ sarve śakraṃ dṛṣṭvā viniḥsṛtam | tataḥ pravavṛte yuddhaṃ vṛtra-vāsavayoḥ punaḥ ||
すべての神々は—シュシュナ(Śuṣṇa)とともに—シャクラ(インドラ)が現れ出たのを見て、大いに歓喜した。かくして、ヴリトラとヴァーサヴァ(インドラ)との戦いは再び始まった。
शल्य उवाच
The verse highlights how the restoration or reappearance of rightful strength (Indra/Śakra) heartens the forces aligned with cosmic order, and how decisive struggles may recur until the underlying conflict is resolved—suggesting perseverance and steadfastness in upholding order amid repeated trials.
Śalya describes a moment when the gods see Indra (Śakra) emerge and rejoice; immediately afterward, the combat between Vṛtra and Indra (Vāsava) resumes, indicating a renewed phase of their confrontation.
