यत्‌ त्वमेवंगते ब्रूया: पश्चिमे वयसि स्थित: । शास्त्राद्‌ वा सुप्रतर्काद्‌ वा सुस्थिर: स्थविरो हासि

Transliteration

yat tvam evaṃgate brūyāḥ paścime vayasi sthitaḥ | śāstrād vā supratarkād vā susthiraḥ sthaviro hāsi ||

Translation

ヴィドゥラは言った。「あなたは人生の終わりの段に立っておられる。ゆえに、この状況であなたが語ることは、聖典（śāstra）に拠るにせよ、明晰な世間の理に拠るにせよ、まことに正しい。判断がこれほど揺るがぬがゆえに、あなたは真に『スタヴィラ（sthavira）』—名実ともに長老なのだ。」
