Educational Q&A

The verse highlights dharmic conduct embodied in a noble woman (implicitly Kuntī): honoring gods and guests, devoted service to elders/teachers, and affectionate care for family. It frames these as virtues worthy of respect and gratitude, and urges courteous concern for her well-being.

In Udyoga Parva’s pre-war diplomacy setting, Yudhiṣṭhira addresses Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana), praising their mother’s virtuous life and asking Kṛṣṇa to inquire after her welfare when he meets her, acknowledging her sacrifices for the Pāṇḍavas.
