Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure
त॑ सर्वगुणसम्पन्नं श्रीवत्सकृतलक्षणम् । सम्परिष्वज्य कौन्तेय: संदेष्टमुपचक्रमे
taṁ sarvaguṇasampannaṁ śrīvatsakṛtalakṣaṇam | sampariṣvajya kaunteyaḥ sandeṣṭum upacakrame ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った――あらゆる徳を具え、胸にシュリーヴァツァの印を戴く主クリシュナを抱きしめて、クンティーの子ユディシュティラは、託された使信を語り始めた。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
Before undertaking political speech or conflict-resolution efforts, one should ground action in virtue and reverence—recognizing moral authority and aligning one’s intentions with dharma rather than mere strategy.
Yudhiṣṭhira embraces Kṛṣṇa and then begins to state a formal message (sandeśa). The verse functions as a transition into the content of that message, highlighting Kṛṣṇa’s divine marks and Yudhiṣṭhira’s respectful dependence on him.
