Omens and Reception During Keśava’s Departure
dharmajño dhṛtimān prājñaḥ sarvabhūteṣu keśavaḥ | īśvaraḥ sarvabhūtānāṃ devadevaḥ sanātanaḥ ||
The verse affirms Keshava’s supreme ethical and metaphysical status: he is perfectly grounded in dharma, unwavering and wise, present within all beings, and therefore the eternal sovereign worthy of trust and devotion—incapable of being swayed into injustice by desire, fear, or greed.
In the Udyoga Parva’s pre-war deliberations, Vaiśampāyana describes Keshava’s nature and authority, presenting him as the eternal Lord and indwelling ruler of all beings—supporting the larger narrative emphasis on righteous counsel and the moral stakes of the coming conflict.
