अन्योन्यसमुपष्टम्भादन्योन्यापाश्रयेण च । ज्ञातय: सम्प्रवर्धन्ते सरसीवोत्पलान्युत
anyonyasamupaṣṭambhād anyonyāpāśrayeṇa ca | jñātayaḥ sampravardhante sarasīvotpalāny uta ||
ヴィドゥラは言った。「互いに支え、互いに寄りかかることで、親族はまことに栄える。池に咲く蓮が伸び育つように。同じく、家や共同体も、成員が支え合い、離れて立たぬとき、力を増す。」
विदुर उवाच
Prosperity and stability arise from mutual support: relatives and community members should uphold one another, because interdependence strengthens the whole, while isolation and rivalry weaken it.
In Udyoga Parva, Vidura offers ethical and practical counsel amid rising conflict, emphasizing that a lineage and polity thrive when their members cooperate—illustrated by the image of lotuses flourishing together in a lake.
