Adhyaya 32: Saṃjaya’s Return, Audience with Dhṛtarāṣṭra, and Ethical Admonition

पज्चैव पूजयॉँलल्‍लोके यश: प्राप्नोति केवलम्‌ | देवान्‌ पितृन्‌ मनुष्यांश्व भिक्षूनतिथिपठ्चमान्‌,देवता, पितर, मनुष्य, संन्यासी और अतिथि--इन पाँचोंकी पूजा करनेवाला मनुष्य शुद्ध यश प्राप्त करता है

pañcaiva pūjayan loke yaśaḥ prāpnoti kevalam | devān pitṝn manuṣyāṁś ca bhikṣūn atithipañcamān ||

ヴィドゥラは教える。人は世において、清らかで混じりけのない名声を得る。五つを敬い礼拝する者によってである。すなわち、神々、祖霊、同胞たる人々、遁世して托鉢する修行者、そして客人。かかる敬いは倫理の鍛錬として説かれる――礼拝によって宇宙の秩序を支え、祖先供養によって家の務めを果たし、人を敬って社会の和を保ち、修行者に施して霊的功徳を積み、もてなしによって正法を立てるのである。
