Udyoga-parva Adhyāya 30: Sañjaya’s Departure and Yudhiṣṭhira’s Commission of Greetings
स त्वं कुरु तथा तात स्वमतेन पितामह । यथा जीवन्ति ते पौत्रा: प्रीतिमन्तः परस्परम्
sa tvaṁ kuru tathā tāta svamatena pitāmaha | yathā jīvanti te pautrāḥ prītimantaḥ parasparam ||
ゆえに、愛しき者よ、汝みずからの判断により、祖父への敬意をもってそのとおりに行え。そうすれば、汝の孫たちは互いに親愛の情を抱きつつ、生きながらえるであろう。
युधिछिर उवाच
Wise elders should use independent judgment to preserve harmony and prevent destructive conflict; the highest aim here is mutual affection and the continued well-being of the family rather than triumph in dispute.
Yudhiṣṭhira instructs a messenger/associate to convey a respectful appeal to the grandsire (contextually Bhīṣma), urging him to act so that the Kuru princes may live together in mutual love, signaling a last effort toward reconciliation before war.
