ततः सूतो ममात्यर्थ कश्मलं प्राविशन्महत् । पृथिव्यां च शराघातान्निपपात मुमोह च
tataḥ sūto mamātyarthaṃ kaśmalaṃ prāviśan mahat | pṛthivyāṃ ca śarāghātān nipapāta mumohaca ||
ビーシュマは言った。「そののち我が御者は、耐えがたい苦悶に襲われた。矢の衝撃を受けて地に倒れ、意識を失った。」
भीष्म उवाच
The verse highlights the human cost of violence: even attendants like the charioteer can be overwhelmed by intense anguish and physical shock. It implicitly underscores the ethical gravity of warfare and the vulnerability of the mind under trauma.
Bhishma narrates that his charioteer, struck by arrows, is overcome by severe distress, falls to the ground, and faints—showing the immediacy and brutality of the conflict being described.
