Amba–Rama–Bhishma Dialogue on Vow and Refuge
“महाबाहो! इसे ग्रहण कर लो और इस प्रकार अपने कुलकी रक्षा करो। तुम्हारे द्वारा अपनी मर्यादासे गिर जानेके कारण इसे पतिकी प्राप्ति नहीं हो रही है” ।।
mahābāho! imaṃ gṛhāṇa caivaṃ sva-kulasya rakṣāṃ kuru | tvayā sva-maryādāto bhraṣṭatvād asyai pati-prāptir na bhavati || tathā bruvantaṃ tam ahaṃ rāmaṃ para-puraṃ-jayam | naitad evaṃ punar bhāvi brahmarṣe kiṃ śrameṇa te ||
「おお、強き腕をもつ者よ！ 彼女を受け入れ、かくして汝の家の名誉と血脈の継続を守れ。汝が自らの礼法の限りを踏み外したゆえ、彼女は夫を得られぬのだ。」敵の城塞を屈服させるパラシュラーマがこのように語ったとき、私は明言して答えた。「おお、ブラフマ仙よ、もはやそのようには二度と成らぬ。このことにおいて、汝の労苦はいかなる益をもたらすのか。」
