Adhyāya 152: Kaurava-sainyavibhāgaḥ
Division and Standardization of the Kaurava Host
etad icchāmy ahaṃ śrotuṃ vistareṇa mahāmate | sambhrame tumule tasmin yad āsīt kurujāṅgale ||
The verse highlights the dharmic posture of careful inquiry: before judging events—especially those leading toward conflict—one should seek a complete, detailed account from a trustworthy source. It models responsible listening and the ethical need for context.
King Janamejaya, listening to the Mahābhārata narration, asks the sage to describe in detail what happened amid the great tumult in the Kuru region (Kurukṣetra/Kurujāṅgala), signaling a transition into a fuller account of the events surrounding the impending war.
