ते रथान् रथिन: श्रेष्ठा हयांश्ष हयकोविदा: । सज्जयन्ि सम नागांश्व॒ नागशिक्षास्वनुछिता:
te rathān rathinaḥ śreṣṭhā hayāṁś ca hayakovidāḥ | sajjayan samānāgāṁś ca nāgaśikṣāsv anuśikṣitāḥ ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは語った。第一の車戦の勇士たちは戦車の支度を始め、馬術に通じた者は軍馬を整え、象使いの規律に鍛えられた者は戦象にも装備を施した。そこには軍務の秩序が明らかであった—各々が定められた役目を鍛錬の技で果たし、軍勢は迫り来る衝突へと進んでいった。
