महावेग इवोद्धूतो मातरिश्वा बलाहकान् । तुझे यहाँ अभीष्ट पुरुषार्थ प्रकट करना चाहिये। जो लोग सिन्धुराजपर कुपित हों
mahāvega ivoddhūto mātariśvā balāhakān | teṣām agrapradāyī syāḥ kalyotthāyī priyaṃvadaḥ ||
子は言った。「大いなる風が激しく起こり、雲の群れを駆り立てて打ち砕くように、いまこそ汝は望むところの目的ある努力(プルシャールタ)を明らかに示すべきである。贈与と敬意、そして周到な配慮によって、シンドゥの王に憤る者、財に心を奪われる者、シンドゥ王の襲撃に疲弊しきった者、自らの力と男らしさを誇る者、そして汝の敵に侮辱され復讐を急ぐ者—そのすべてを慎み深く味方に引き寄せよ。かくのごとき賢明な施しにより、汝は最大の同盟すら分断できる。疾く強き風が雲塊を裂き散らすがごとく。」

Political success can be achieved by discerning people’s motives and grievances and then winning them through timely generosity, honor, and persuasive speech; this can fracture even a strong opposing coalition.
