Udyoga Parva Adhyāya 103: Garuḍa’s Protest, Viṣṇu’s Demonstration, and Counsel Toward Śama
अस्य कन्या वरारोहा रूपेणासदृशी भुवि । सत्यशीलगुणोपेता गुणकेशीति विश्रुता
asya kanyā varārohā rūpeṇāsadṛśī bhuvi | satyaśīlaguṇopetā guṇakeśīti viśrutā ||
彼には一人の娘がいる。高貴なる乙女で、その美は地上に比ぶべきものがない。真実と淑やかな行い、すぐれた徳を備え、「グナケーシー(Guṇakeśī)」の名で世に知られている。
नारद उवाच
The verse foregrounds ethical worth alongside outward beauty: true excellence is measured by truthfulness, good conduct, and virtues that earn lasting good repute.
Nārada describes a certain man’s daughter, praising her unmatched beauty and, more importantly, her virtuous character, introducing her as the famed maiden named Guṇakeśī.
