Virāṭa-sabhāyāṃ Saṃniveśaḥ — Assembly at Virāṭa’s Hall and Kṛṣṇa’s Diplomatic Counsel
अथासनान्याविशतां पुरस्ता- दुभौ विराटट्रुपदौ नरेन््द्रौ । वृद्धौ च मान्यौ पृथिवीपतीनां पित्रा समं रामजनार्दनौ च
athāsanāny āviśatāṃ purastād ubhau virāṭa-drupadau narendrau | vṛddhau ca mānyau pṛthivī-patīnāṃ pitrā samaṃ rāma-janārdanau ca ||
ついで最前の尊席には、二人の王ヴィラータとドルパダがまず着座した。集まった諸王のうち、彼らは年長であり、ことさらに敬われるべき存在であったからである。その後、バララーマとジャナールダナ(クリシュナ)も父ヴァスデーヴァとともに座に就き、年齢・位階・しかるべき敬意に従う集会の秩序が明らかとなった。
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse highlights dharmic decorum in public life: elders and those worthy of honor are seated first, and even the most eminent figures observe propriety by taking their places in an ordered, respectful manner.
In the royal assembly, Virāṭa and Drupada are seated in the foremost places because they are senior and respected among the kings; afterward Balarāma and Kṛṣṇa (Janārdana) take their seats together with their father Vasudeva.
