Indra and Dharma’s Consolation; Celestial Gaṅgā Purification
na ca manyus tvayā kāryaḥ śṛṇu ced vaco mama | avaśyaṃ narakas tāta draṣṭavyaḥ sarvarājabhiḥ ||
The verse counsels restraint of anger and frames the vision of hell as an inevitable consequence tied to the burdens and moral entanglements of kingship; one should accept the experience as part of karmic order rather than react with wrath.
Vaiśampāyana addresses a listener who has been made to witness hell and urges him not to be angry, explaining that such a sight is something all kings are destined to encounter.
