समेता: पुरुषव्याप्र निहतं शूरमाहवे | प्रकीर्णमूर्धजा: पत्न्यो रुदत्य: पर्युपासते,पुरुषसिंह! रणभूमिमें मारे गये इस शूरवीरके पास आकर इसकी पत्नियाँ सिरके बाल बिखेरे बैठी हुई रो रही हैं

Transliteration

sametāḥ puruṣavyāghra nihataṃ śūram āhave | prakīrṇamūrdhajāḥ patnyo rudatyaḥ paryupāsate ||

Translation

ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「おお、人中の虎よ。戦で討たれた勇士の周りに妻たちが集い、髪を乱してその傍らに寄り添い、泣き伏している。」この光景は戦の人間的代償をあらわにする。勇者の没落の直後に、義務と愛によって結ばれた者たちの悲嘆と脆さが露呈するのだ。
