राजधर्मप्रश्नः — Yudhiṣṭhira’s Inquiry into Rājadharma (Śānti-parva 56)
व्यसनानि च सर्वाणि त्यजेथा भूरिदक्षिण । न चैव न प्रयुड्जीत सड़ूं तु परिवर्जयेत्
vyasanāni ca sarvāṇi tyajethā bhūridakṣiṇa | na caiva na prayuñjīta sāḍhuṃ tu parivarjayet ||
ビーシュマは言った。「豊かな施しをなす王よ、汝はあらゆる悪習と破滅を招く耽溺を捨てねばならぬ。だが、勇敢な努力を一切用いてはならぬということではない—敵を打ち破るなどの目的には、勇気と主導が必要だからである。ゆえに捨てるべきは、あらゆる形の悪習への執着である。」
