तमतिक्रम्य विधिना प्रष्टमर्हसि काड्क्षितम् । स ते परमकं धर्म न मिथ्या दर्शयिष्यति
tam atikramya vidhinā praṣṭum arhasi kāṅkṣitam | sa te paramakaṃ dharmaṃ na mithyā darśayiṣyati ||
正しい作法をもって彼のもとへ赴き、真に問いたいことを尋ねよ。彼は最上のダルマを示し、偽りの教えで汝を惑わすことはない。
ब्राह्मण उवाच
Seek guidance from a trustworthy authority and inquire with proper decorum; true dharma is transmitted through disciplined questioning and reliable instruction, not through misleading or false doctrines.
A Brahmin advises the listener to go to a particular person (implied to be a competent teacher) and, following proper etiquette, ask the desired question; the teacher is affirmed as one who will reveal the highest dharma without teaching anything false.
