Educational Q&A

The verse teaches that the Supreme Being is uniquely one (aikatva) and supremely great (mahattva); hence tradition recognizes only that single eternal Reality as the true Puruṣa, rightly called “Mahāpuruṣa.”

Bhīṣma (Pitamaha), instructing on dharma and higher truth in the Śānti Parva, identifies the ultimate divine principle as the one eternal Supreme Person and explains why the epithet “Mahāpuruṣa” properly belongs to him alone.
