Atithi-prāpti and the Brāhmaṇa’s Deliberation on Triadic Dharma (अतिथिप्राप्तिः धर्मत्रयविचारश्च)
कामान् कामी लभेत् काम॑ दीर्घ चायुरवाप्रुयात् ब्राह्मण: सर्ववेदी स्यात् क्षत्रियो विजयी भवेत्
vaiśampāyana uvāca |
kāmān kāmī labhet kāmaṁ dīrghaṁ cāyur avāpnuyāt |
brāhmaṇaḥ sarvavedī syāt kṣatriyo vijayī bhavet ||
ヴァイシャンパーヤナは言った。「欲を抱く者は望むものを得、さらに長寿を得る。ブラーフマナは一切のヴェーダに通暁する者となり、クシャトリヤは勝利者となる。」
वैशम्पायन उवाच
The verse states a phalaśruti: through the relevant discipline/observance being described in context, one gains fitting rewards—fulfillment of aims and long life in general, Vedic mastery for a brāhmaṇa, and victory for a kṣatriya—showing how outcomes are framed according to one’s role and duty.
