Bhishma teaches that a sure path to exalted posthumous attainment (Brahmaloka) is the sustained duty of transmitting sacred knowledge: one should consistently teach the Veda to a worthy Brahmin student who approaches with genuine intent to learn. The ethical emphasis is on generosity in knowledge and preservation of tradition.
In Shanti Parva’s instruction on dharma, Bhishma addresses learners and frames Vedic teaching as a meritorious obligation. He exhorts the students to multiply and urges that the Veda be widely disseminated, presenting education as a sacred social responsibility.
