शुकस्य योगसिद्धिः (Śuka’s Yogic Attainment and Ascent)

यहाँ इस जीवका कोई भी अपना नहीं है और वह भी किसीका अपना नहीं है। रास्तेमें मिले हुए राहगीरोंके समान यहाँ पत्नी तथा अन्य बन्धु-बान्धवोंका साथ हो जाता है, परंतु यहाँ पहले कभी किसीने किसीके साथ चिरकालतक सहवासका सुख नहीं उठाया है ।।

bhīṣma uvāca | na iha jīvasya kaścid api svajanaḥ, na cāyaṃ kasyacid api svajanaḥ | pathi saṃgatānām iva pathikānāṃ saṃyogaḥ patnyādyaiḥ bandhujanaiḥ bhavati; na tu pūrvaṃ kadācit kenacid kenacit sārdhaṃ cirakālaṃ sahavāsasukham anubhūtam || kṣipyante tena tenaiva niṣṭanantaḥ punaḥ punaḥ | kālena jātā yātā hi vāyunā iva bhra-saṃcayāḥ ||

ビーシュマは言った。この世では、いかなる生きものも真に誰かのものではなく、また誰かが真に彼のものでもない。道で出会う旅人のように、妻や他の親族とは一時の結びつきが生じるにすぎない。だがここで、長きにわたる不変の伴侶の歓びを味わった者はかつていない。彼らが幾度も泣き叫ぼうとも、時(カーラ)は衆生を滅びへと投げ込む—それは風が轟く雲の群れを繰り返し追い立て、砕き散らすがごとくである。
