पराशर उवाच
A king’s righteousness is shown through self-control and the faithful performance of svadharma: protecting and sustaining subjects, dependents, and family with disciplined, duty-based governance rather than impulse or favoritism.
Parāśara addresses a king directly, urging him to emulate an ideal model of conduct: as a restrained kṣatriya who values kinship, he must uphold his royal responsibility by maintaining and protecting the people, servants, and sons according to dharma.
