Viṣṇor Māhātmya and Indriya-saṃyama (विष्णोर्माहात्म्यं तथा इन्द्रियसंयमः)

अकामया कृतस्तत्र यज्ञो होत्रनुशासनात्‌ । शुक्रस्य पुनराजाति: पर्णादो नाम धर्मवित्‌,होताके आदेशसे इच्छा न होनेपर भी ब्राह्मण-पत्नीने उस यज्ञका कार्य सम्पन्न किया। होताका कार्य पर्णाद नामसे प्रसिद्ध एक धर्मज्ञ ऋषि करते थे, जो शुक्राचार्यके वंशज थे

akāmayā kṛtastatra yajño hotr-anuśāsanāt | śukrasya punarājātiḥ parṇādo nāma dharmavit ||

ナーラダは言った。「そこでは、私的な欲求がなくとも、祭式を司るホートリ(Hotṛ)の指示に従って供犠が執り行われた。そのホートリは、法(ダルマ)に通じた正しき仙人パルナーダ(Parṇāda)であり、シュクラ(Śukra)の再生(あるいはその血統が新たな姿で現れたもの)と見なされていた。この出来事は、正しい導きと清廉さのもとで果たされる儀礼の義務は、個人の好みによらず、ダルマと正当な作法への遵守に立脚することを示している。」
