Viṣṇor Māhātmya and Indriya-saṃyama (विष्णोर्माहात्म्यं तथा इन्द्रियसंयमः)
सा तु शापपरित्रस्ता तत्स्वभावानुवर्तिनी । मायूरजीर्णपर्णानां वस्त्र तस्याश्व वर्णितम्,ब्राह्यणी शापसे डरकर पतिके स्वभावका सर्वथा अनुसरण करती थी। ऐसा कहा जाता है कि वह मोरोंकी टूटकर गिरी पुरानी पाँखोंको जोड़कर उनसे ही अपना शरीर ढँकती थी
sā tu śāpaparitrastā tatsvabhāvānuvartinī | māyūra-jīrṇa-parṇānāṃ vastraṃ tasyāś ca varṇitam ||
ナーラダは言った。呪いを恐れた彼女は、夫の性分と気質にことごとく従って振る舞い続けた。彼女の衣は、孔雀の古い抜け羽をつなぎ合わせて作り、それで身を覆っていたと説かれている。
नारद उवाच
The verse highlights steadfast adherence to dharma under adversity: even when frightened by a curse, the woman remains devoted to righteous conduct and to following her husband’s disposition, embodying humility and austerity rather than seeking comfort or display.
Nārada describes a brāhmaṇī who, shaken by a curse, continues to live in strict simplicity and conformity with her husband’s way of life; her garment is said to be fashioned from old, fallen peacock feathers stitched together.
