राजानो लोकयात्रार्थ तप्यन्ते परमं तप: । तेडपत्रपन्ति तादृग्भ्यस्तथावृत्ता भवन्ति च

Transliteration

rājāno lokayātrārthaṁ tapyante paramaṁ tapaḥ | te ḍapatrapanti tādṛgbhyas tathāvṛttā bhavanti ca ||

Translation

フマトセーナは言った。「王たちは、世の営みが秩序正しく続くために、最上の苦行を修める。国に盗賊や追い剥ぎが潜むなら恥を覚えるゆえ、民を清らかにし、正しい行いへ導き、安楽にしたいと願って、そのような規律ある精進に身を投じるのだ。」
