Educational Q&A

Right kingship is a synthesis of knowledge and conduct: the ruler should gain Vedic understanding, study śāstric guidance, govern justly, and uphold each group’s proper duties. Such governance purifies the ruler’s inner self and yields heavenly reward.

Vyāsa is instructing on rajadharma within Śānti Parva, describing the qualities and actions by which a king becomes spiritually purified and attains happiness in devaloka after fulfilling his responsibilities on earth.
