आत्मदर्शन-उपदेशः (Ātma-darśana Upadeśa) — Mind, Senses, and the All-pervading Self
पित्र्ये राग्यहनी मास: प्रविभागस्तयो: पुनः । शुक्लो5ह: कर्मचेष्टायां कृष्ण: स्पप्नाय शर्वरी
pitrye rātryahani māsaḥ pravibhāgas tayoḥ punaḥ | śuklo 'haḥ karmaceṣṭāyāṃ kṛṣṇaḥ svapnāya śarvarī ||
ヴィヤーサは祖霊界（ピトリ Pitṛs）における異なる時の尺度を説く。人が一月と数えるものは、ピトリにとっては一昼夜に当たる。白分（śukla pakṣa）は彼らの「昼」—活動し、その役目を果たす時であり、黒分（kṛṣṇa pakṣa）は彼らの「夜」—休息し眠る時である。この教えは、人の祭祀の営みをより大きな道徳的宇宙の中に据え、行いと供物は見えざる秩序に調和させ、規則正しく、敬虔に行うべきことを示唆する。
